Question: Making a collage

Im trying to move the pics in a cillage help

You can:
  1. Select a number of photos.
  2. Tap or click +
  3. Tap or click Collage
The collage maker of Google Photos is very basic. All you can do is choose the number and format of the photos. That is very important to get a possibly usable result.

Question: Why i cant back up my folders and liberate space from my phone?

    Bach up pictures

    Hi Nataly

    To back up folders
    1. Connect to good wifi or sufficient cell data
    2. Select Google Photos
    3. Select Library
    4. Open each visible folder and make sure back up & sync is turned on (the dot will move to the right and turn from grey to blue if 'on')
    5. Repeat for each folder you want backed up & synced
    6. Wait sufficient time and then check status
    7. Open Photos > Profile icon will show back up status
    8. After back up is complete you can select Google Photos app > Profile icon > Free up space menu option
    9. Google will remove locally stored data that it considers backed up
You can read more details here

    Joe

PS - Do NOT simply manually delete images to free up space as you run the risk of deleting both the local and backed up copy. Read the fine print here https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6128858?hl=en&ref_topic=6128848&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&oco=1

    Answer:

You can tap on your profile photo (or initial), then "Settings for Google Photos" > "Backup and sync".
Is Backup and sync activated for the correct account ? Then it should at least upload the camera photos. Other folders can also be set to be backed up: see "Device folders with backups"

Edit: I did not see Joe's reply when I posted mine. Sorry.
Just one more warning: it is recommended to always have a backup of your photos.

Question: I am restart my phone but my photos was deleted

    HI Brahma

If you simply restarted your phone, make sure you have a good wifi or sufficient cell data, AND are logged in to the exact same Google account you used for the back up.  You can launch Google Photos > Profile icon > and see which account your are logged in to. You may need to use the account switcher or add the account you backed up to first.

However, if you mean you did a factory reset of your device, where your phone was erased and installed a fresh system, any photos that were not backed up are likely gone. As per above, make sure you have logged in to the exact same account you used for the photos back up.  Once you have connected to wifi or cell data and logged back in to the exact same account, you should see any backed up images re-sync from your Photos account.  Anything not backed up are likely gone.

You can try data recovery on the phone, by downloading software to a computer, connecting your phone via USB and running the software on your phone's local storage (not Google's servers.) If you did erase and reset the phone, I think it is unlikely, but you can decide if it is worth a try. I don't have a recommendation of software.

Question: Hello how can I identify the names of my previous shared partner accounts on Google photos

I just want to identify the names of my previous partner shared accounts of my Google photos

    Hi James

There is currently not a way to see partner account history in Google Photos. You can use the feedback menu option under the profile icon in Photos to make a feature request.

As a workaround, you can contact partner accounts you think you may have shared with, and ask them to check their Gmail to see if they have an email notification for partner sharing in Photos.

    Best wishes,

    Joe

PS - If you are not talking about specifically setting up partner accounts where you share libraries or portions of a library, you can double-check the sharing section in Google Photos to see if you shared with a partner another way.

If I buy a month's backup storage, will that backup be for one month or will it always be there?

    Hi Cricketer,

If you cancel your plan (that is turn it on for one month, and then cancel the Google One membership after a month), your account storage will revert back to the 15GB limit.  If you have exceeded that storage space, there are then consequences.

You may not be able to send or receive Gmail, back up or sync any files to Google Drive, nor back up and sync any more images to Google Photos until you reduce your storage limit back to under the 15GB limit.

You can read the specific details here

If you have tried the Google One membership for a month, and decided it's not for you and cancel it, but are under the 15GB standard storage, then you can use your storage without interruption to the apps as mentioned above. It is only if you turn it off and are over your 15GB storage limit.

Sir My younger brother has deleted all my Photos from Google Photos.I have tried to Recover the photos from "Trash" option. But he than said that he  deleted the Photos permanently.Sir plz do something.😭😭

    Answer:

    Hi Krishna

If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can't restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:
    • You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
    • You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
    • You permanently deleted it from your trash.
    • You permanently deleted it from your device's Gallery app, without backing it up first.
If the images were on your phone's local storage, and you have not likely overwritten them with downloading more content, you can decide if data recovery is an option. Typically you install the software on a computer, connect the phone to the computer via USB and run the software to attempt recovery of deleted data on your phone (not from Google's servers.) I don't have a recommendation and you can decide if this is worth your efforts.

Recently I have found some strange behaviors of the trash folder. I have cleaned the trash so it is empty (on my iOS app), next day I see some photos that I have restored recently from trash. I restore them again and they disappear from the trash folder, I refresh trash folder and they are back. Than I go to the web photos.google.com to check if those photos can be seen there in trash folder, and another surprise: on the web app in the trash folder I see completely different set of photos. I search the photos by date and guess what, they are also in my photos collection showing up as not deleted so I have the same photos in trash and outside trash. OK, than I permanently delete those photos on my iOS app from the trash and guess what, after refreshing they are back. !!!!!

    Answer:

In fact there are two trashes: one locally (with 30 days holding) and one in cloud (with 60 days holding).
Pictures not yet backupped come in the local trash when deleted.
Maybe this is enough to explain your phenomena.
    Best

PS: and there also is a local trash in the Apple Photos app with 30 days holding.

    Answer:

Well, that may be but I believe that there is a bug in iOS app. Problematic pictures are deleted long time ago and showing 12 days until they will be permanently deleted. After I kill the app forcibly and start it again trash is empty. After i click back arrow and again go into trash folder they are back.

    Answer:

Sorry, no Google here and it is hard to test your abnormal behavior.
You can report a potential bug via the feedback option in the app under your profile.

    Question: Old photos

    Prakash kumawa

    Hello Prakash Kumawat 7389 ,

If you have uploaded photos on google photos and deleted it please take a look at the below info.

Following is text from the official Google Photos Help page about deleting and restoring photos and videos:

    Restore photos & videos
If you deleted an item and want it back, check your trash to see if it’s there.
    1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app .
    2. At the bottom, tap Library  Trash .
    3. Touch and hold the photo or video you want to restore.
    4. At the bottom, tap Restore. The photo or video will be back:
      • In your phone’s gallery app
      • In your Google Photos library
      • In any albums it was in
If the item is not in your trash, it may be permanently deleted.
      Important:
      • If you delete a photo or video that’s backed up in Google Photos, it will stay in your trash for 60 days.
      • If you delete an item from your Android device without it being backed up, it will stay in your trash for 60 days.
      • If you see a photo or video in Google Photos that you think you deleted, it might be on a removable memory card. To delete it, use your device’s gallery app.
      Empty your trash
If you see a request to "Delete permanently" when you try to move an item to trash, your trash is full. Your trash can hold 1.5GB.

Important: If you empty your trash, you permanently delete any items in your trash.

Don't see the photo or video?
If a deleted photo or video isn't in trash, you can’t restore it. You won't be able to restore a photo if:
      • You moved it to trash more than 60 days ago.
      • You moved it to trash, then emptied your trash.
      • You permanently deleted it from your trash.
      • You permanently deleted it from your device’s Gallery app, without backing it up first.
When you attempt to manually empty the trash bin in Google Photos, a warning message box appears that explains you are about to permanently delete those pictures and videos. If you choose to proceed anyway, there is nothing that any of the volunteers in this forum can do to help you recover your pictures.

The information on the following Google Photos Help pages will help you become more familiar with finding, deleting, and restoring your pictures:

If you deleted pictures or videos that were not previously backed up to your account through the Google Photos app, then unfortunately there's nothing that Google or any of the volunteers in this Help Community can do to recover them.

Files that existed only on your phone, ones that were never uploaded to the cloud, cannot be recovered or restored by a cloud storage service. Simply put, Google can't help you recover files it never had in the first place.

      Thanks.

To do so, please follow these steps through the phone app.
      • Tap to open the picture
      • Tap on the edit icon below the picture
      • Tap on menu option Crop. See the screenshot at the bottom "Rotate".
      • Tap on the rotation symbol for achieving a turn through ninety degrees. Each successive tap will add ninety degrees going through 90 -> 180 -> 270 -> and again back to 360 degrees.
      • That will help you correcting sideways or upside-down orientations.
      • If you wish to fine-tune then move the slider above the rotation symbol. That helps in correcting slight misorientations at an increment of one degree.

Probably not, unless you have checked what is stored at /photos.google.com in the Chrome-app when you log-in with the same account as used in the backupsettings.
If that looks rather complete, you should set the Google Photos app to use without account under your profile circle. and then restart the phone before starting factory reset.
Be aware that you will no photos and folders and albums thereafter.
Then start to update the Photos-app via the playstore and then log-in with your account and give the app the time to rebuild its database before switching-on the back-up for storing new photos.
Good luck and it was wise to ask before doing.

That is nonsense: you cannot rename photos in cloud even with paying for having more storage space then your basic 15 GB for free. But why should you pay?
Tell us the 3 numbers you see at one.google.com/storage - then we can give a better advise.
