Trump news on Youtube Jan 26 2019

Thank you very much my fellow Americans.

I am very proud to announce today that we have reached a deal to end the shutdown and

reopen the federal government.

In a short while I will sign a bill to open our government for three weeks until February

15.

I have seen and heard from enough Democrats and Republicans that they are willing to put

partisanship aside.

They have said they are for complete border security and they have finally and fully acknowledged

that having barriers, fencing or walls, or whatever you want to call it, will be an important

part of the solution.

The walls we are building are not medieval walls.

They are smart walls designed to meet the needs of frontline border agents and are operationally

effective.

The requests we have put before Congress are vital to ending the humanitarian and security

crisis on our southern border.

So let me be very clear.

We really have no choice but to build a powerful wall or steel barrier.

If we don't get a fair deal from Congress, the government will either shut down on February

15, again, or I will use the powers afforded to me under the laws and the constitution

of the United States to address this emergency.

We will have great security.

And I want to thank you all very much.

Thank you very much.

Trump agrees to reopen government for three weeks after backing down from wall funding demands - Duration: 2:35.

We begin our top story this afternoon over in the U.S.

President Donald Trump has agreed to reopen the federal government after a five-week shutdown.

Congress passed a bill to normalize government operations,... although it remains a temporary

deal for now.

But it doesn't mean President Trump has given up on trying to secure funds for a border

wall,... with discussions over the matter far from over on Capitol Hill.

Our Cha Sang-mi starts us off.

The longest government shutdown in U.S. history has finally come to an end,... at least for

the time being.

President Trump agreed to reopen the federal governement Friday local time, backing down

after a 35-day stalemate... which didn't get him the billions of dollars needed to build

a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Saying he has a "very powerful alternative" that he is not going to use at the current

time, Trump warned... that another shutdown or even a national emergency could be in store

if Congress does not agree to fund the border wall.

"We really have no choice but to build a powerful wall or steel barrier... (cut) If we don't

get a fair deal from Congress, the government will either shut down on February 15, or I

will use the powers afforded to me under the laws and Constitution of the United States

to address this emergency."

Following his remarks,...

U.S. Congress passed a short-term spending legislation to fund the government... and

allow federal workers to return to work until February 15th.

The shutdown first began after Trump had demanded 5-point-7 billion U.S. dollars to build a

border wall... amid Congressional disputes over the issue of border security.

"Over the next 21 days, I expect that both Democrats and Republicans will operate in

good faith."

Lawmakers will negotiate border security funding during the three-week window,...

and while nothing is clear, both parties expressed optimism that a deal could be struck.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also told reporters she was "optimistic" and said she sees every

challenge or every crisis,... as an opportunity to do the right thing for the American people.

Some 800-thousand federal employees will now get back to work and receive their wages starting

next week.

Questions have also been raised about Trump's postponed State of the Union speech,... now

that the government is reopening,... but no firm date has been scheduled yet.

MASSIVE NEWS TRUMP JUST STUNNED ALL AMERICANS WITH THIS BIG ANNOUNCEMENT - Duration: 12:39.

MASSIVE NEWS TRUMP JUST STUNNED ALL AMERICANS WITH THIS BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

well one of the ideas suggested as they open it they pay a sort of a a prorated down payment

for the wall which I think people will agree that you need you need the

world in fact I see a lot of the Democrats are all almost all of them are

break in saying look wall so good it was a good big difference from what you had two

or three weeks ago and the vote we had the vote on our bill which we won fifty

to forty seven that was our bill but we got one Democrat it was fifty to

forty seven and we need as you know we have to get sixty we don't have sixty votes so

we need Democrat support we didn't get Democrat support other than from

actually wonderful man as you know senator Manchin and who's doing the

right thing for his people I mean he's doing the right thing for West Virginia frankly

and the other bill was fifty to forty four and that included a lot of hurricane

relief for a lot of different states so it's sort of not something

some of them really voted for the hurricane relief which they felt they needed that was

fifty to forty four but you need sixty so that didn't go anywhere

so we knew they both were not going to go anywhere

we thought and now Mitch is negotiating with Chuck Schumer and we'll see what happens I

think they just left a meeting

they just had a meeting I think they're going out to see their people but they just left

so we had two bills I think we did very well the Republicans held except

for two the Republicans held two were not there they couldn't well they

were unable to be there so there were two non votes but even with two non votes I think

there would have been good votes for us it's fifty two forty seven we

won but we need sixty votes because of the 60-vote rule and so I just really

want to thank the Republicans for holding again on the other one that was the opening

up that's fifty two forty four but you need 60 votes so it's a long

way sure and a lot of that a lot of those votes were based on the fact that

there was hurricane relief States I would be happy with it I wouldn't be happy but we

have a lot of

alternatives honestly we have everybody look for the most part people agree when I say

everybody I would say almost everybody agree we have to have border security

we have to have a wall in order to have border security you cannot have

border security without a wall and then we can play games and we can talk about technology

we can talk about drones flying around you know right now formed is

an 8,000 person Caravan and the caravan is heading our way

congratulations we have another one we stopped the first one we stopped the second one I

wouldn't say that Tijuana is too happy but they're happily living in

Tijuana right now and a lot of them

have gone back but we stopped them but it's very tough and if we didn't have a wall in

those areas it would have been very hard to stop them we have the military

and we have the Border Patrol they've done an incredible job and ice

has done an incredible job all over the country frankly we've removed thousands

of ms-13 and others out of our country but if we had a wall we wouldn't have that problem

it would be great so we

have a lot of alternatives but I'm just honored that almost all of the Republicans voted for

our bill our bill is the bill that we were really focused on

but we had almost all of the Republicans so the end result was 52-47

the Democrats lost one that came over to our side so they pretty much held and we held

and again we were missing two Republicans they couldn't vote they were

not here well I have to find out after this meeting we'll find out but right now mitch

mcconnell's meeting with chuck

schumer and see if they'll have to see what happens their meeting to see if they could

work out something maybe on a temporary basis will we start but I have you

know we have a lot of alternatives there are a lot of people that want this

to happen I'll tell you who wants thisto happen the military wants this to happen because

this is a virtual invasion of our country of drugs of human

traffickers of so many different things of criminals it's an invasion of

our country and the military wants this to happen and the Border Patrol wants this to

happen and by the way border patrol said all of the drones flying upin

the air having a lot of fun flying drones all over the place they don't

mean a thing when they look down and they see thousands of people rushing on border

the only thing that works is a strong barrier a wall I have not I haven't

spoken to Nancy Pelosi never know but I'm here you know I haven't

left except for a beautiful evening in Iraq I've been here for I've been here for a long

time no I haven't I haven't heard the statement but I do understand and

perhaps you should have said it differently local people know who they

are when they forego for groceries and everything else and I think what Wilbur is probably trying

to say is that they

will work along I know banks are working along them if you have mortgages the mortgages the

mortgage the folks collecting the interest and all of those things

they work alone and that's what happens in time like this they know the

people they've been dealing with them for years and they work along the grocery store

and I think that's probably what Wilbur Ross meant but I haven't

seen a statement no but he's done a great job I will tell you that

yes

well we're looking at that as well it's a very sad situation that was the richest state

in all of that area that's a big beautiful area and by far the richest

and now it's one of the poorest places in the world

that's what socialism gets you when they want to raise your taxes to 70 percent you know

it's interesting I've been watching our opponents our future opponents

talking about seventy percent number one they can't do it for 70

percent it's got to be probably twice that number but maybe more importantly

Trump prepares to declare EMERGENCY in desperate bid to fund Mexico wall - DAILY NEWS - Duration: 2:56.

Trump prepares to declare EMERGENCY in desperate bid to fund Mexico wall

US President Donald Trump has vowed to plough on with his bid to build a wall on the border

with Mexico after finally ending the government shutdown.

Donald Trump agreed under mounting pressure on Friday to end a 35-day-old shutdown without

getting the $5.7 billion (£4.32 billion) he had demanded from Congress for a border

wall.

But it is only temporary three-week pause on the shutdown with Trump not backing down

on his demand for the security measures.

The Republican president said he could declare a national emergency in order to get the wall

money without congressional approval.

The shutdown, the longest in US history, led to around 800,000 workers being left without

pay.

It also led the president to delay his State of the Union address.

But Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has remained unyielding in Trump's demand

for funding for the wall.

Trump has said a wall is needed to curb illegal immigration and drug trafficking.

Speaking in the White House Rose Garden on a chilly, sunny winter day, Trump said: "We

really have no choice but to build a powerful wall or steel barrier.

"If we don't get a fair deal from Congress, the government will either shut down on February

15 – again – or I would use the powers afforded to me under the laws and the Constitution

of the United States to address this emergency."

He previously has indicated he was considering an emergency declaration to dodge congressional

funding powers if lawmakers do not fund his wall.

Trump triggered the shutdown, which began on December 22, with his wall-funding demand

after being criticised by conservative commentators for not being firm enough.

"The walls we are building are not medieval walls," Trump said.

"They are smart walls designed to meet the needs of front-line border agents and are

operationally effective.

"These barriers are made of steel, have see-through visibility, which is very important,

and are equipped with sensors, monitors and cutting-edge technology, including state-of-the-art

drones."

"We do not need 2,000 miles of concrete wall from sea to shining sea.

We never did," Trump added.

"We never proposed that.

"We never wanted that because we have barriers at the border where natural structures are

as good as anything that we could build."
