Trump news on Youtube Dec 24 2018

Now another one of the biggest stories of 2018.

Back in May, President Trump announced that the U.S. was pulling out of the Iran nuclear

deal,... fulfilling one of his election campaign promises.

It's also one of the ways, like his approach to North Korea, in which Trump has overturned

the policies of his predecessors.

But in the case of Iran, U.S. allies broke with Washington and are standing by the deal.

Kan Hyeong-woo has this report.

In 2015, Iran signed a long-term deal over limiting its nuclear program with a group

of world powers... including the U.S., UK, France, China, Russia and Germany.

Under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action,... Iran agreed to limit its nuclear activities

and allow international inspectors to check nuclear-related facilities... in return for

the lifting of economic sanctions.

The International Atomic Energy Agency have consistently reported that Iran is complying

with all nuclear-related commitments.

But in May this year,...

President Trump announced that the U.S. was pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal.

" In just a short period of time, the world's leading state sponsor of terror will be on

the cusp of acquiring the world's most dangerous weapons.

Therefore, I am announcing today that the United States will withdraw from the Iran

nuclear deal."

The U.S. leader had long been opposed to the deal even before he became president,... saying

that the accord was a bad deal from the beginning as it did not address Iran's military influence

in the Middle East and its ballistic missile program.

After the U.S. withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal, others tried to keep the accord alive.

British Prime Minister May, German Chancellor Merkel and French President Macron re-stated

their continued commitment to the deal and vowed to work with all parties to assure its

terms were upheld.

Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo presented the Trump administration's new strategy

towards Iran,... pledging to apply unprecedented financial pressure on the Iranian regime by

imposing sanctions on oil and shipping.

But Iran hasn't backed down.

Iranian President Rouhani has warned his people that the country is facing a war situation

and has vowed that Iran will continue to sell its oil and break the U.S. sanctions.

Trump digs in on Syria decision as criticism ramps up home and abroad - Daily News - Duration: 9:42.

President Donald Trump on Sunday said he discussed the 'slow & highly coordinated pullout of U

S. troops' from Syria with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as criticism of his decision ramped up both home and abroad

'I just had a long and productive call with President @RT_Erdogan of Turkey. We discussed ISIS, our mutual involvement in Syria, & the slow & highly coordinated pullout of U

S. troops from the area. After many years they are coming home. We also discussed heavily expanded Trade,' he tweeted on Sunday

His move comes as some lawmakers from his own Republican Party were critical of his decision to pull the 2,000 U

S. troops out of Syria. 'We were going to leave Syria. But to leave it when you're within a couple of months of doing something that is very important in the fight against ISIS and the president knows that, and we pull - jerk the rug out from under two months in advance, that's hard to understand,' outgoing Republican Sen

Bob Corker said on CNN's 'State of the Union' on Sunday. Corker has been one of the biggest Republican critics of the president's decision

He was at the White House on Thursday, waiting to meet with Trump on the issue, when the president abruptly canceled the meeting before Corker could see him

The senator, who is chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said he thinks Trump realizes he made a mistake with his Syria decision

'I think he knows that he has made a mistake. I do. The president's tendencies are to dig in and double down even if he knows he did something incorrect

I don't think he wanted to talk about Syria that day and so the meeting was called off

And in a that's what happened,' Corker said.Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney said the decision would hand a victory to ISIS

Share this article Share 'I am deeply, deeply concerned and I oppose strongly the president's decision apparently to withdraw troops from Syria

The apparent decision that- that we're now going to be looking at withdrawing troops from Afghanistan,' she said Sunday on CBS' 'Face the Nation

' 'These two decisions would be disastrous. They would really, in many ways, hand the victories to our enemies to Iran, to ISIS in Syria, the Taliban, al-Qaeda in Afghanistan

It's a very dangerous path to go down and we shouldn't be going down it. We ought to make sure that we keep our troops there in order to prevent the establishment of safe havens from those groups that want to attack us

'But hardline Republican Sen. Rand Paul applauded the president's move.'I'm very proud of the president

This is exactly what he promised. And I think the people agree with him, actually

I think people believe we've been at war too long in too many places and we do need to turn attention to problems we have at home here

Roads, bridges, schools,' he said on CNN's 'State of the Union.' And French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday criticized Trump's decision, saying 'an ally must be reliable'

But acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said there was little chance the president would change his mind

'No, I think the president has told people from the very beginning that he doesn't want us to stay in Syria forever

You're seeing the end result now of two years worth of work,' he said on ABC's 'This Week

' Trump shocked lawmakers on Capitol Hill and foreign allies last week when he announced plans to remove troops from Syria, where they have been helping coordinate a multinational fight against ISIS

Turkey applauded the move.  Trump's decision came after a private call with the hard-line president of Turkey where the president ditched a script crafted by his aides and was told allies fighting alongside the U

S. were terrorists. The fateful call occurred Friday, according to multiple press accounts, just as Turkey's President Recep Erdogan publicly saber-rattling about a campaign to wipe out U

S.-allied Turkish forces in northeastern Syria. The U.S. has relied on Kurdish fighters in Iraq and Syria to take out ISIS elements in a multi-year military campaign that Trump cheered on Twitter Friday

On the call, Erdogan was able to seize control of the conversation by pointing to U

S. military success, saying the U.S. had already defeated 99 per cent of ISIS. When he asked Trump 'Why are you still there?', it prompted Trump to pass on the query to his own security advisor, John Bolton, who was monitoring the call

Sources on the call said Trump 'quickly capitulated' and yielded to Erdogan's withdrawal demand, the Associated Press reported

Trump has swiped at critics of his decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria by saying if anyone else brought soldiers home they would be branded a 'hero'

In a series of fiery tweets Saturday night, the president also dismissed the top U

S. envoy in the fight against ISIS as an 'Obama appointee' who he claimed he did not know

Earlier Saturday, Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL Brett McGurk announced his resignation in the wake of Trump's decision to pull troops out of Syria and just days after Mattis's announced departure

McGurk was to leave the role in February but moved up his departure date by two months to December 31 after very publicly stating that the move to pull American forces at this time could result in a 'possibly catastrophic outcome'

Responding to the news , Trump tweeted: 'Brett McGurk, who I do not know, was appointed by President Obama in 2015

'Was supposed to leave in February but he just resigned prior to leaving. Grandstander? The Fake News is making such a big deal about this nothing event!

'If anybody but your favorite President, Donald J. Trump, announced that, after decimating ISIS in Syria, we were going to bring our troops back home (happy & healthy), that person would be the most popular hero in America

With me, hit hard instead by the Fake News Media. Crazy! The veteran diplomat, who got his start in the administration of George W

Bush and was appointed to his current post by Barack Obama, now joins Mattis in an administration exodus of experienced national security officials

Trump also fired a parting shot at Mattis, the most respected foreign policy official in the administration who will leave by the end of February

He tweeted: 'When President Obama ingloriously fired Jim Mattis, I gave him a second chance

'Some thought I shouldn't, I thought I should. Interesting relationship-but I also gave all of the resources that he never really had

Allies are very important-but not when they take advantage of U.S'. The former United States Marine Corps general commanded the 1st Marine Division during the 2003 invasion of Iraq

He later served as the Commander of United States Central Command under Obama.  Trump announced on Sunday Mattis would leave his administration on January 1 instead of Feb

28 as originally planned.

Mick Mulvaney Says Trump 'Now Realizes' He Can't Fire Fed Reserve Chief Jerome Powell - News Today - Duration: 3:05.

Incoming White House acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney on Sunday said President Donald Trump "now realizes" he can't fire the head of the Federal Reserve, after reports that the president asked his advisers whether he had the ability to do so

Trump, looking to blame someone over the recent stock market plunge, considered ousting Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, The Washington Post and CNN reported Saturday

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin tweeted Saturday night that Trump claimed he never suggested firing Powell or believed he had "the right to do so

"  But asked Sunday during an interview with ABC's "This Week" whether Trump believes he has the power to fire Powell, Mulvaney appeared to confirm reports that the president looked into whether he could

"I think [Trump] put out a tweet last night specifically saying that he now realizes he does not have the ability to fire him," Mulvaney told ABC's "This Week

"  ABC's Jon Karl clarified that Trump never directly said as much ― only Mnuchin on his behalf

"Is that who tweeted? All right," Mulvaney said. "I talked to ― I must have heard it ― I did speak with the treasury secretary last night about a bunch of things, including the lapse in appropriations and the shutdown, and he did mention that to me

"   Trump named Mulvaney as the acting White House chief of staff on Dec. 14, roughly a week after he announced John Kelly would leave the role by the end of the year

Mulvaney will assume the role in January and has been serving as director of the Office of Management and Budget since February 2017

After news of the appointment, a video clip circulated of Mulvaney, at the time a congressman representing South Carolina, bashing Trump days before the 2016 presidential election

"Do I like Donald Trump? No," Mulvaney can be heard saying in the video. "Yes, I'm supporting Donald Trump

I'm doing so as enthusiastically as I can, given the fact that I think he's a terrible human being

"  Mulvaney on Sunday downplayed his past criticism of Trump.  "He and I have joked about it," Mulvaney said of the clip

"He knows that I've been fighting with him to fight for ordinary Americans for the last two years

He likes having me around, and I like working for him."  Asked how long he believes he will serve as acting chief of staff, Mulvaney said he wasn't sure

"I don't know," he said. "I think what we'll do is take a couple of weeks, a couple of months and see if he likes the way I'm handling the job, if I like the job

Judge Jeanine Defiantly Gives Trump Every Reason To Make The Wall Happen Now(VIDEO)!!! - Duration: 13:20.

Judge Jeanine Defiantly Gives Trump Every Reason To Make The Wall Happen Now

with all due respect I would like to direct my open to the President of the

United States mr. president I understand the pressure that you are under from

every side but the wall at our southern border is a promise that you made ran on

got elected on and must keep but more than that it is your legacy and you

cannot allow them to force you to compromise so here we are days before

the Christmas holiday and you are facing the most important issues that Americans

elected you to confront your promise to build the wall now there's never been a

president more dedicated to fulfilling a campaign promise than you unlike just

about every other president in recent memory you say what you mean

and you mean what you say that is why your base is so loyal to you and

continues to grow you have done what no other president has had the fortitude to

do the wall is no different and you must fulfill this fundamental promise to the

American people you cannot buckle now there's no

question that on January 3rd your presidency will face even more

obstruction and resistance by the Democrats than you have seen in the last

two years they will stop at nothing they are callously salivating at the

prospect of your collapse the only way to go into this is to let Pelosi and

Schumer know that now they are going to have a fight every step of the way they

will have to deal with the tax a toxic environment they created no one has your

strength mr. president your perseverance or your determination you instinctively

understand what needs to be done and how to do it and you need

to build this wall you're meeting in the Oval Office with Pelosi and Schumer was

a turning point in your presidency the arrogance disrespect and

condescension by these two members of Congress was shocking Schumer unable to

look you in the eye and Pelosi instructing you the wall was a

non-starter and that you did not have the votes Nancy I do and we need waters

you could answer well mr. president she found out you had the votes she is a

liar and an obstructionist and I might add the whole lot of them are hypocrites

illegal immigration is wrong plain and simple I voted numerous times when I was

a senator to spend money to build a a barrier to try to prevent illegal

immigrants from coming in we simply cannot allow people to pour into the

United States undetected undocumented unchecked these hypocrites wanted a wall

until Donald Trump wanted a wall until Trump promised a wall they simply will

do whatever they can to stop you from succeeding their hatred of you mr.

president is so intense and so vindictive that they would rather

destroy you and America then destroy the drug cartels gang members and the human

traffickers coming over our border Schumer Pelosi and their gang of haters

ignore the fact that 90% of the heroin coming into our country killing our

loved ones comes from Mexico and Nancy and Chuck you don't want to put a wall

up to stop that we have spent tens of billions of dollars to fight heroin but

you don't want to spend five billion dollars to put up a wall to stop heroin

for good Nancy and Chuck you both know this

year ice agents seized enough fentanyl to kill every person in the United

States but you don't want a wall to stop it don't you want to stop the human

traffickers the child smuggling and the Coyotes raping young women claiming that

their family isn't this what every law-abiding American wants what is with

this open border nonsense and you call us racist heartless and cruel I'll tell

you what's heartless it's a number of Americans that are killed by drugs

pouring over our poorest namby-pamby fence border it's the number of illegals

and Democrats sanctuary cities who kill innocent Americans you want to throw

down the welcome mat to illegals and with open arms shower them with health

care and education and housing yes you will have a fight from every side but

what is clear to the American people is that these Democrats have no respect for

the rule of law and want to attack it their sanctuary cities endanger the

safety of our citizens it's just insanity the only time the rule of law

matters to these left-wing haters is when it's the campaign finance law but

the protection of our country and its citizens who gives a damn so we shut

down the government okay it's been shut down 20 times let's be clear all

essential personnel continue to work the shutdown does not affect Medicaid

Medicare Social Security the military or other essential branches and after the

shutdown all the other non-essential employees are paid so stop with the

rhetoric 75% of our government is open and the wall is the will of the American

people so now there's talk of compromise for those of you who want a lesser

amount than five billion that number is simply inadequate

how many caravans need to come through before we realize that we need a wall

and the money from last year's budget can only be used to fix a fence and for

those of you who think that's enough consider this an eight-month pregnant

woman was able to scale the fence to get to the American side to deliver her baby

do you really think that that is the kind of wall we need mr. president the

American people are tired of our government standing with illegals over

American citizens they are tired of the destruction of the rule of law in our

country and everything our founding fathers fought for and I don't care who

owns this shutdown and neither do they we voted for you and you have not failed

us so while the Senate goes home for Christmas you remain in Washington I am

pleading with you on behalf of the American people who believe with every

fiber of their being that if anyone can get it done you are the one who can and

will this is your moment in history just do it thank you mr. president Senator

Lindsey Graham all right senator should Mitch McConnell have sent them home well

you know I don't think we're gonna do anything between now and Christmas why

did you say well it takes two to tango here's what Schumer said I'm gonna quote

you judge Shubert demands Trump abandoned the wall so Senator Schumer

we're not going to abandon the wall we're going to build the wall into all

those Americans who want us to abandon the wall and open up the border and

that's what this fights about we don't agree with you so mark and Jim and Matt

deserve a lot of credit for getting the president in a good spot

I have much with the president today and I can promise you we need more

for the wall along the border Schumer wants to abandon the vault wall we want

to build it that's what this fights all about and it really is a silly petty

fight on behalf of Democrats okay they all voted for twenty five billion

dollars for the wall border security in February okay but they won't they won't

allow for the actual building of a concrete wall

all right ditch I don't know if you heard my open boos an eight-month prison

straight and who scaled that ridiculous fence so she can get over here listen

are you gonna have to compromise in this Senate and how in order to get the wall

because I can't believe that in the end we will not get this wall but maybe I'm

just an optimist well let me tell you we need the wall and after the caravan okay

the president asked for 1.6 billion dollars for wall funding early in the

year along comes the caravan five thousand people show up at our border

near Tijuana Mexico and you made a very good point

what kind of wall is it that a nine month pregnant woman can climb over have

the baby on our side with an hour I am so glad she's healthy

apparently the baby is okay what else did we learn about our wall somebody put

an eight month old baby under the wall so Senator Schumer what does it take for

you to realize that we need more money for a broken border and this is about

them hating Trump so much warning him to lose they can't understand that America

needs to win and we're not going to give in okay I'm pretty reasonable guy but

we're not going to give any uses pretty reasonable guy senator do it doesn't

aggressive yeah I'll say it you don't agree with the President on everything

and and Syria is one of those issues but I I'm honestly right now I'm into this

wall right now how are you going to get nine Democrats to vote for the wall what

are you going to do we're going to go on TV and say to the American people that

we need more money for wall funding because the threats against the country

are greater not smaller and the president asked for 1.6 Democrats agreed

to 1.6 the difference between 1.6 and Veon is very small in a three trillion

dollar budget the need is there every Democrat in February loaded for 25

billion dollars for wall funding we're going to make the case that this is

unreasonable you know what it is dangerous okay I just thought of

something you know in the omnibus bill with the 700 billion military and all

the other sub 500 planned Parenthood you know it was a compromise right the whole

1.6 billion I believed in that I'm the boss bill for the wall but they

specifically said Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan you can't use any of it for

the wall what makes you think Mitch McConnell's in with you guys on this

well I think Mitch is not the problem I think he's the solution I think Chuck

Schumer Nancy Pelosi and the hard left are the problem Chuck Schumer said today

I demand that the president abandoned on the wall you know what this is a fantasy

why does abandon the ball we want to build it why does Chuck Schumer hate the

president so much well you know I'm not saying he hates the president as a

person I'm saying this that he hates the President's agenda that he's kowtow to

the radical left that most Americans understand compromise is good the

Democrats have told the president she won't get one penny for the wall right

the people voted for the president to build the wall they're on the wrong side

of this issue two three people come in behind me these congressmen they

understand what 2016 was all about we did lose the house in 2018 but I promise

you this the issue of securing our border is alive and well and when Chuck

Schumer tells the president he demands that he abandoned this wall president

Trump should listen to your opening statement he will I've never seen the

president more determined to get something done than to build this wall

good Senator Lindsey Graham always good to have you on the show come back and

see us sometime I'll be back all right Merry Christmas

thank you god bless you and God bless america

Trump Admin Breaking Federal Law By Not Buying American Goods - Duration: 3:10.

According to a new report by the Government Accountability Office, the Trump administration

has routinely been breaking federal law by using government money to buy non American

parts.

According to Democratic Senator Chris Murphy, who released a statement along with this GAO

report that he had requested the Trump administration has spent tens of millions of dollars through

the Department of Defense, health and Human Services, homeland security and the va buying

things that they could have bought in America, but instead chose to buy from overseas manufacturers.

That is a direct violation of the Buy American Act.

As Chris Murphy points out and thereby they are breaking the law by spending this money

that could have been spent in the United States over seas.

This is a pretty cut and dry case, although this is not the kind of thing that's going

to warrant a criminal investigation.

Hell probably nobody is going to even be reprimanded for this and Murphy understands that.

What he's trying to do here is point out the hypocrisy of this administration of Donald

Trump who has repeatedly been videoed, literally hugging flags, saying how much he loves America,

and then when he's given the opportunity to do something good for this country, he instead

ship that money overseas just like he does with his own businesses.

This is not surprising in the least.

What surprised me is how low the numbers actually were.

I would expect it to be much higher than tens of millions, but again, that's tens of millions

of dollars that could have gone to US businesses to us workers, you know, trickled through

the local economies where those manufacturing plants are.

But instead he bought parts, aircraft parts, whatever it is, playing parts from overseas

manufacturers.

Even though we have plenty of folks here in the United States who make those every single

day.

That's why the Buy American Act came to fruition because people were tired of the federal government

spending money overseas rather than spinning it here and helping out our economy and our

citizens and our workers.

But Trump doesn't seem to care for him.

It's all about how he can get the most for his money and apparently it's a little bit

cheaper to ship tens of millions of our tax dollars to overseas manufacturers than spending

it here at home.

This man does not care about the United States.

He cares about money and that is the point that Chris Murphy, even though he didn't say

that, that's still the point he is trying to make.

He is trying to show Donald Trump supporters that at every possible turn, this man, Donald

Trump has been given the opportunity to help American workers and not one single time has

he ever jumped on that opportunity and done the right thing.

And the reason for that is because nothing will ever be more important to Donald Trump

than money.

Trump's North Korea Deal Continues To Implode - Duration: 3:42.

The deal more, I guess I should say, the alleged deal that the Trump administration made with

a Kim Jong-Un and North Korea continues to fall apart every week.

North Korea, according to a new report in the Associated Press, has now said that they

have no intention of ever done nuclear rising unless the United States basically does the

same thing.

So in spite of what Donald Trump told us after his little photo op that he did with Kim a

few months ago, North Korea is not denuclearized.

We have no evidence to suggest that they have shut down any of the sites that they claimed

they were going to shut down.

In fact, aerial surveillance shows that they've actually been upgrading some of the sites.

So literally nothing that Trump said happened at their meeting has happened and North Korea

now says, yeah, none of that is going to happen.

We don't even know why you're saying that.

We said we would do it according to the AP report.

So North Korea is out there right now saying either he misinterpreted what we said or he's

just flat out lying about it because we as a country are not going to die.

Nope.

Until you d nuke, uh, specifically from the Asian continent.

We do not want that veil of nuclear protection from the United States over there.

But it is broader than that.

It is denuclearization of the United States.

And I got to be honest, that is not a crazy demand, right?

I mean, when you think about it in these terms, the United States has the largest nuclear

arsenal out there, right?

I say, you know, US in Russia, we've got that constant.

We'll build a few more to put our number over the top.

But, uh, you know, we're, we're either at the top or were tied for first in number of

nukes we have.

And we as the leader in nukes, as the only country that's ever dropped nuclear bombs

on civilian populations ever.

Uh, we have the audacity to go out there and tell other countries, you can't have these

just us, these are ours.

You can't have them or we're gonna kill you.

That's what we tell them.

Why?

Why would any country in the world look at us with, you know, 600 nuclear bombs ready

to fire at the incident and say, hold the hell up dude, I can't have these, but you

have them and you can hit my country in 30 minutes with them.

How?

How is that okay?

How, how, why would I agree to this?

This makes no sense.

I'm going to protect myself from you because you seem to be a little hostile towards anyone

that's not American and even some Americans I.

You can't necessarily blame other countries with this and I am sure as hell not trying

to sympathize or anything with North Korea, they are horrible.

Kim Jong-Un is a terrible human being.

What he's doing to his population is criminal and the man needs to be thrown in the Hague

and put on trial for crimes against humanity.

But I am saying from a rational thinking standpoint, if we're sitting here on a throne of nuclear

weapons, we have no high ground to tell anyone in the world, no matter how evil they are,

that they can't have them because nobody on this planet, no country has ever done with

nuclear weapons.

What the United States has done, we want other people to do.

We need to lead the way by doing it ourselves.

On until then, it is incredibly irrational for us to think any country on this planet

is going to listen to us when we tell them that they can't have these weapons that we

love so much.

FINALLY! Trump ANNOUNCED THIS Over BORDER WALL FUNDING! READY For SHUTDOWN(VIDEO)!!! - Duration: 13:27.

FINALLY! Trump ANNOUNCED THIS Over BORDER WALL FUNDING! READY For SHUTDOWN

thank you very much I appreciate everybody being here we've had a very

busy two or three days it's been very positive things are happening that

haven't happened in our government for a long time the other night as you know we

had a boat on border security and I didn't we want to discuss this just for

a second but the House of Representatives voted 217 to 185

approving strong border security and the money necessary and take care of the

barrier wall or steel slaps whatever you want to call it it's all the same and it

was a tremendous evening for the Republicans to be honest with you

because the level of spirit the level of happiness a lot of people came out they

said they had never seen one minute particularly he's been there for over 20

years he said I've never seen spirit or enthusiasm like this they came from all

parts of the country a couple of them came from other parts outside so I say

all parts of the world in order to vote and they voted and it was an incredible

and we were told that you would never get the house to vote

able to get the house to vote and it wasn't that we did it they did it they

were incredible so I want to thank in this case house Republicans because what

they did was rather incredible do and now the Senate is looking at it we just

had a meeting with some of our great senator Republicans and lasted for a

long time tremendous enthusiasm for border security and I think I could

speak for them very strongly when I say they want to see something happen on

border security they want the security of safety they want safety for our

country drugs are poor again and we've done an

incredible job considering we have no barrier when drugs are pouring into our

country human trafficking is at the all-time worst in history because of the

internet and the human trafficking problem is a problem that has gone on

through the ages but it's never been worse because of the internet all over

the world this isn't the United States is is all over the world so we need

border security and the Republicans in the Senate as you know are taking it up

today and it's really up to the Democrats totally up to the Democrats as

to whether or not we ever shut down it's possible that we'll have a shutdown I

would say the chances are probably very good because I don't think Democrats

care so much about maybe this issue but this is a very big issue it's an issue

of crime it's an issue of safety it's an issue of least importantly dollars spend

two hundred eighty five billion dollars a year on illegal immigration we have to

finally do it the wall will pay for itself on a monthly basis I mean

literally every month it pays for itself so we're talking about small amounts of

money think of it we approved and we got good Democrat support military last you

seven billion dollars recently 716 billion dollars for the military and

they were talking about five billion dollars so it's a tiny fraction but

unfortunately they've devoted their lives to making sure it doesn't happen

and that wasn't what should happen that was for political reasons so we are

going to be working very hard to get something passed in the Senate there's a

very good chance it won't get passed it's up to the Democrats so it's really

the Democrats shutdown because we've done our thing when Nancy Pelosi said

you'll never get the votes in the house we got them and we got to by a big

margin 217 to 185 so now it's up to the Democrats as to whether or not we have a

shutdown tonight I hope we don't but we're totally prepared for a very long

shutdown and this is our only chance that we'll ever have in our opinion

because of the world and the way it breaks out to get great water security

Ronald Reagan tried many years ago got a note from a member of his family many

years ago tried to get a wall and he fought for a long time during its entire

term he was never able to get a wall and I consider him to be a great president

he knew what he was doing we are going to one way the other we're gonna get a

wall we're gonna get a barrier we're gonna get anything you want to name it

you can name it anything you want but we cannot let what's been going on in this

country over the last ten years we just can't let it happen now Wyoming

Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney at that meeting of with the president the

congressman as you know has just been voted in as the House Republican

Conference chair congresswoman is it your sense that this measure this latest

measure would pass the house as it's as it's built now yeah hi Neil thanks for

having me look in the meeting that we had with the president this afternoon is

absolutely clear that there is no distance between the House Republicans

and the president we know that we've got to secure our border so what we've just

passed through the Rules Committee is a bill that provides

five billion dollars for the wall and for border security provides additional

funding over eight billion dollars for disaster relief that's really crucial

and necessary and you know if you just look at the exchange that just went on

moments ago in the Rules Committee you had my colleagues on the Democratic side

saying things like the wall was quote stupid saying things like the wall was

quote offensive you know and we the House Republicans the president know

that what's really offensive is a refusal by the Democrats by Leader

Pelosi to refuse to secure the border so we are committed to doing that we're

committed to ensuring that that happens we know we've got no higher obligation

and that's the direction that we're headed in is it your sense then

congressman that you would have the votes in the house to get this passed it

would go to the Senate and presumably with the the Republican edge there it

would pass or do you know some of your colleagues who don't want this coca crop

well look I mean I think the Senate is an entirely different animal you'll have

to talk to the Senators about what they're planning to do with this but I

know that we in the house take very seriously our responsibility to secure

the border I also know that the continuing resolution that the Senate

passed by voice vote yesterday is not something that the president is

interested in signing and we have said all along that we believe that we're

going to be able to put something on the floor and pass it we've actually just as

I said passed this text out of the Rules Committee that will do our job fulfill

our constitutional obligation to secure our border and I would also say I mean I

think it's very interesting to hear leader Pelosi continue to talk about the

Republicans not having the votes I'm amazed she's got time to focus on that

given the struggles she's having on her side of the aisle to get the votes for

her speakership so we're working hard we believe in securing the board and we're

gonna continue to fight for that all right will you have also heard from

Nancy Pelosi congressman who's saying that this is all on Republicans and that

this was overplayed by the president mishandled by Republicans as well that

it's frustrating Republicans because they don't know where the president is

on this just like they were surprised by his decision to pull American troops out

of Syria they don't they don't know what's going on is that a fair criticism

no I mean look at the end of the day speaker Pelosi to be presumably I know

she's trying to be that Schumer and Pelosi both they're playing games and

the American people who are watching this all

across the country know the difference between putting a bill on the floor

that's going to protect the borders it's going to fund border security the kind

of bill the president has asked for that we support and the kind of gamesmanship

we're seeing on the Democratic side unfortunately I think it's probably a

taste of what we're going to see when they're in the majority

starting in January but you can count on the House Republicans to continue to

fight for what we know is right and there is nothing more important than the

security of the nation so I'm proud to stand with the President on this and

we're going to make sure that we can provide him with the kind of funding we

know we need to secure our borders I know you don't obsess over the markets

only nerds like I do who cover them here one of the things that has been raised

though congressman I don't know if it's fair or even right is that we are very

close to a bear market and some averages precisely because there is concern that

things are just falling apart in Washington not to mention in someone's

high flying stocks and that Republicans are getting fingered for that is that

fair look no I think that that when the American people watch the kind of games

were seen you look at that meeting that Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi had with

the president where they were just interested in playing games they were

just interested in sort of trying to trap the president and trying to come up

with sound bites what we all know we've got to do is secure the border that's

what the president wants to do that's what we know we have to do and so the

longer that you see you know this threat that the Democrats the games that

they're playing in terms of shutting down the government the more the

American people are going to say wait a second you know we don't want to be in a

position where you've got to threaten a government shutdown to get the border

secure we're seeing these the caravans we're seeing the extent to which people

are attacking our border guards and and that is absolutely unacceptable from the

perspective of our security so again I'm very proud of what we're doing as the

House Republicans and and we're going to continue every single day to fight to

make sure that we're securing our border and securing our nation all right now I

know you're talking about a secure border and it might be a tad apples and

oranges but do you think the president imperiled that by pulling our troops out

of Syria right now and providing an abyss for Isis either to regroup and who

knows some of them to get to that very border that you want to secure look I

think there are two separate issues I think that right now what we're focused

on is making sure we provide the resources to secure the border with

respect to Syria I don't wanna see us pull out I think it would

be a mistake I think we've got to make sure that we do not allow Isis and other

radical terrorist organizations establish safe havens we've been down

that road before well I think across the board we've got to ensure that we're

putting the security of the nation first and my view is that we should not be

withdrawing from Syria that we've got to make sure that we stay there we don't

want the Iranians to be able to create a land bridge we don't want a situation

where Isis is able to be resurgent but at the end of the day we need to be able

to do both things we've got to be able to ensure that we don't allow terrorist

organizations to establish safe havens anywhere in the world especially in the

Middle East and we've got to make sure that our southern border is secure and

right now the Democrats are standing in the way both in the house and the Senate

of our ability to do that so as the the incoming chairman of the

House Republican Conference and as a proud Republican member of this body I'm

gonna continue to fight on all fronts to make sure that we keep this nation safe

congressman we're looking at ping-pong a year and you've been very patient with

me but we're learning that this revamp spending bill is going to be on the

floor presumably the next 20 to 30 minutes

I assume you will vote for that measure that includes some of this funding

financing but does some of your colleagues get angry knowing that they

might be working through Christmas look Neal we're absolutely committed we had a

conference meeting this morning and the sentiment in our conference meeting was

absolutely that we've got to do what's necessary that we didn't want to put on

the floor our CR that didn't address this issue the CR that the Senate sent

over to us by voice vote and and we're committed to being here we

know how important it is people obviously want to be able to spend

Christmas with their families but we all have a constitutional obligation we've

all sworn an oath to the Constitution and as I said there is nothing more

important than making sure that our borders are secure and so we're willing

to stay here as long as it takes to get this done and and if the Democrats in

the House and the Senate would stop playing games and stop saying things

like it's stupid to secure the border then I think all of us as Americans

could come together and do the right thing when you say secure the border I

take it that doesn't necessarily mean a wall it could mean these steel beams or

whatever it seems to be morphing into a different definition of something to

keep our border secure and like Ferren saying that

yeah look you know one of the things that we talked about with the president

at the White House today was the the different types of walls that there are

and I think it's important obviously we've got technology they've got walls

now there we call them walls and they are walls they've got steel slats in

them there are different forms that this can take but there's no question that

some kind of a barrier is crucially important and that we've got to be able

to provide the resources for a wall for a barrier as well as resources that we

need for technology to secure the border by other means I would also point out

that the Democrats have voted for exactly this kind of thing in the past

and it only seems to be now because President Trump is for it that they're

suddenly against it and and it's amazing to me every time I hear Minority Leader

Pelosi or Chuck Schumer or any of the Democrats you know talk about this is

immoral or offensive what's immoral is for those of us who are elected

representatives the people of this nation not to do our job and our job is

to secure the border to keep the country safe

first and foremost so we're gonna continue to fight for that all right

congressman thank you very much the House GOP conference chair Liz Cheney

thank you god bless you and God bless america

Kimberly Guilfoyle shares first Christmas with Melania and Donald Trump Jr at the White House - Duration: 3:49.

While the president is staying behind in Washington DC to deal with the government shutdown, Kimberly

Guilfoyle is making herself at home in Mar-a-Lago to celebrate her first Christmas with the

Trumps.

The former Fox News host took to Instagram to post photos of herself and beau Donald

Trump Jr with 'in-laws' President Trump and Melania at the White House as she reflected

on her 'many blessings' from this year.

'Merry Christmas and #HappyHolidays to you and your loved ones ... reflecting on all

of our many blessings and so grateful Wishing you healthy and Happy Holidays!

God Bless you and your families!,' she wrote.

Some of Guilfoyle's snaps included photos of her and Don Jr taken at last week's White

House Christmas Party, which saw Trump officials - past and present - in attendance.

The couple also attended the DailyMailTV and DailyMail.com Holiday Celebration in New York

City earlier this month where they revealed they'd be spending the holidays together.

The couple kicked off their holiday celebration last month, when they were in Washington DC

at the White House for the National Christmas Tree Lighting.

'Due to the shutdown, President Trump will remain in Washington, D.C. and the first lady

will return from Florida so they can spend Christmas together,' White House spokeswoman

Sarah Sanders said.

Trump reiterated Sanders through a tweet, writing: 'I will not be going to Florida because

of the Shutdown - Staying in the White House!

#MAGA.'

The President's initial plans were to spend 16 days at the so-called 'winter White House'

- the nickname given for Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Meanwhile, Eric's wife Lara Trump has been spotted showing off her ripped physique on

the grounds of the Florida resort during the traditional Trump holiday getaway.

Lara took Charlie the dog for a walk while wearing a skimpy white bikini.

Lara flaunted her toned stomach in shorts and a bikini top with sandals as she and her

husband, in pants and a long sleeved shirt, strolled across the golf course, accompanied

by the family dog Charlie.

Donald Trump's second eldest son looked ready for some rest and relaxation, and was carrying

a fishing rod under his arm as the family piled out of the car.

He carried out his one-year-old son Eric Luke.

The family looked delighted to escape the stresses of Washington DC for the holidays,

but there was no sign of Eric's father.

Putting a crimp on his Christmas, President Trump had to cancel his standard holiday getaway

with family in Florida over the partial government shutdown that began Friday night.

While the budget impasse stems from the $5.7 billion he wants for a border wall along the

U.S.-Mexico border, his wife Melania decided not to stick around in the nation's capital.

'It has long been the family's tradition to spend their Christmas holiday at Mar-a-Lago.

Her plans to travel with her son to their Florida home for his winter break have not

changed this year,' spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said, CNN reported.

The president had planned for a 16-day holiday, which would have been his longest as president,

but with the shutdown, it does not appear to be happening.

Flight restrictions for the area around the resort were lifted on Friday after the President's

decision to stay in D.C., according to the local CBS affiliate.
