was so helpful with that and so many other things so I also want to thank the
northeast Iowa community college president dr. Liang gee we really
fantastic what we saw we've met some of the students and they're really
enthusiastic and they're gonna have a great life they could have a great life
you know we have so many companies moving back to the United States now and
what we need is talented people people that have knowledge and people that know
it'll use those incredible machines that you don't learn overnight right and what
you're doing here is a great example a lot of people are studying it what
you're doing in Iowa with Kim and everybody else and you were very
complimentary of your governor and that I understand that but what you're doing
is really incredible people all over the country and Beyond the country are
studying what you're doing right here and Iowa came and thank you doctor very
much congratulations thank you mr. president
and you hear the President of the United States they're talking to the governor
of Iowa and giving accolades to her and others in the room
this is Northeast Community College in pasta pasta I should say Iowa where the
president has gathered to talk about the executive order an initiative that he
put forth for the American workforce and the American worker and then very
special at this event and we will continue to monitor it of course as it
moves on he's letting people tell their experiences and there are a couple of
people who are in the audience will join them there we understand on the dais
we'll talk about receiving a certificate in heating and cooling a person who was
terribly underemployed unemployed and another with a vocational program that
that person entered and how those things are making a difference in their daily
lives we have as you know as viewers of Fox News a tremendous opportunity now in
our economy for people seeking jobs we have more jobs than people who are
currently seeking them and so what the president is talking about doing is
closing the loop on the training that people will need to get into those jobs
and this visit to Iowa is one step in that process as this continues to make
news we'll bring you back to this live event but there's a whole lot going on
that we want to tell you about on overtime today Fox News Alert on this a
group of House Republicans has worn impeachment is not off the table for
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein the battle over Rosen Stein's future
appears far from over this is outnumbered over time i'm harris
faulkner that group of 11 house republicans
introduced a resolution to impeach Rosenstein claiming he has a conflict of
interest in overseeing the muller russia investigation and has refused to turn
over requested documents but they now say they will hold off on that until at
least after their August recess which begins tomorrow so there was a tight
squeeze to get this done here's GOP Congressman Jim Jordan one of
the lawmakers leading the effort the bottom line is we have sent numerous
letters to rod roses time they haven't complied with two subpoenas they haven't
complied with we've caught the Department of Justice hiding information
redact the information that they should not have redacted we're tired of the
Justice Department giving us the finger and not giving us the information we are
entitled to do to do our constitutional duty more importantly the American
people are sick of it but the top Democrat on the House Intelligence
Committee Adam Schiff went after the move there's absolutely no basis to
impeach it's an absurd idea but it's designed to diminish the credibility of
the Justice Department undermine the mole investigation cause public doubts
to be had this has been a huge issue on Capitol Hill the day before they break
we want to bring in chief intelligence correspondent Katherine Harris Harwich
to fill us in on this busy Thursday Katherine thanks he was speaking to Fox
News in the last hour the chairman of the freedom caucus Marc meadows said the
ball is now in rod Rosen Stein's court he said contempt and impeachment are on
the table and while the house is not voting on impeachment today they can as
you mentioned bring it back after the recess last night Meadows laid out his
strategy we hope that it doesn't have to come to that obviously this is the first
step tonight but it doesn't require consent from the speaker it's a
privileged motion so what we put in today was non privileged it goes in gets
referred to the Judiciary Committee but starting tomorrow we can bring it up as
a privileged motion these articles of impeachment call out the Deputy Attorney
General and alleged Rosenstein has a conflict of interest in the Russia probe
because he signed off on the final surveillance warrant renewal for Trump
campaign aide Carter Page in June of 2017 the articles of impeachment read in
part Deputy Attorney General Rosen Stein's failure to recuse himself in
light of this inherent conflict of interest and failure to recommend the
appointment of a second special counsel constitute dereliction of duty it's
important to note that according to the Republican memo on surveillance abuse
released earlier this year information about the dossier source and his
anti-trump bias was withheld from the national security court that approved
spying on Carter page after the British spy Christopher Steele who collected the
dossier was fired for lying to the FBI he was able to maintain contact with a
senior Justice Department official Bruce or
and this is important his wife sorry his wife worked for fusion gps the firm
behind the dossier that's nelly or there on the right
short time ago the House speaker said he does not support the move on impeachment
he says it will derail the larger agenda for Republicans but at the same time he
still wants the Justice Department to provide the records that are withheld it
is appropriate that we conduct oversight of the executive branch and they would
get full compliance with the executive branch on what our very legitimate
document requests do I support impeachment of Rod Rossum signed no I do
not I don't think we should be cavalier with this process or with this term
number one number two I don't think that this rises the level of high crimes and
misdemeanors really high standard big headline out of the articles of
impeachment if you put the withheld documents to one side is this allegation
that rod Rosenstein has a conflict of interest people have discussed this
privately on Capitol Hill but with the release of these fives of documents last
weekend even though they're heavily redacted here is you can see rod
Rosenstein signature on that last renewal in June of 2017 and their
argument is we are investigating allegations of government surveillance
abuse yet you were the one who signed off on the warrant so therefore you have
a conflict if that's a very interesting point I mean it's 412 pages it is
heavily redacted but the signature isn't like catherine herridge thank you very
much I want to bring in Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz now a co-sponsor
of that resolution a resolution to impeach rod Rosenstein first of all was
the House Speaker did I hear him correctly was he calling this effort
cavalier compared to what it should be it was very frustrating to hear the
speaker call our efforts Cavalier when I think it's pretty Cavalier of the
Justice Department in rod Rosenstein to ignore congressional subpoenas I think
it's Cavalier when they tell witnesses not to answer questions I think it's
real cavalier when they redact information that has nothing to do with
national security it's just embarrassing to people at the FBI or Department of
Justice and it may be the most cavalier thing of all for rod Rosenstein to have
signed an application a renewal to spy on an American based on information at
that time they knew was from someone who had lied to them Christopher
Steele the guy who wrote the dossier lied to the FBI rod Rosenstein knew that
and was so Cavalier that he thought that his information was still a basis to spy
on people associated with the Trump campaign we need our leadership to be
leaders and we need them to stand with us for the sake of the institution of
the Congress to perform our necessary oversight wow you found 11 ways or so to
use the word that the speaker used in your argument there and certainly very
serious about this perhaps even see a pop up after the August recess I'm
asking because you were so close when when this came up to even try to put
this on the House floor would have been difficult because you leave for summer
tomorrow but will we see this come back if you don't get those documents yeah we
will and all on almost daily basis Harris you have people on this show to
talk about the document deadlines and the delays and the redactions and the
question that I get from so many my constituents is what are you going to do
about it are there going to be any consequences
or will the Congress continue to just be feckless in their oversight now we have
drawn a line in the sand if we do not get this information we are going to
fight for impeachment proceedings to begin will need the support of our
leadership in that endeavor but if they don't support us I mean what are we
doing here Harris we need to be able to perform oversight especially on a matter
so important when it comes to abuses and spying on political rivals congressman
gates I want to just touch on this to house Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy
said that he would like to see this go through regular order we know that
members of the freedom caucus have said that regular order is something that
that really needs to be there at every account this actually would not have
followed that protocol you now have more time does it get you to bring on board
some of these leaders that you're talking about now that's a great point
Harris I would love for the Judiciary Committee under regular order to
schedule the hearing on impeachment in the event that we do not get the
documents that tell us whether or not intelligence was incorrectly collected
against the Trump campaign so we're all about having a regular order hearing in
the Judiciary Committee what we will not stand for is to simply be silenced and
to be told that well you know the Justice Department in the speaker's
office they're negotiating and setting new deadlines we've done this for more
than a year now it's time to get the witnesses get the
documents get the answers for the American people or have some folks face
the consequences for their inaction all right congressman I'm glad you are still
with me because we've had some news break in the last few minutes that I
want to get your take on the New York Times is reporting that special counsel
Robert Miller is looking at the president's tweets about former FBI
director James Comey and Attorney General Jeff Sessions I see you smiling
there he's looking now to broaden his already rather broad investigation yes
for evidence of obstruction of justice via these tweets Trump attorney Rudy
Giuliani is reportedly dismissing his interest as part of an effort to just
sink the president and you say what Harris if we're gonna start
investigating for people for mean tweets in Washington DC I think we're gonna
need a whole lot more special counsels the Muller probe is so baseless against
the president they're literally down to trolling tweets it reminds me of the
text messages between Peter struck and Lisa Paige in may where they were saying
there's no there there this was seven months after the investigation that the
FBI started began into Russian collusion and they were saying there's no there
there now there's such an absence of fact as to collusion that Robert Muller
is literally having to troll tweets I think it is it highlights the absurdity
of the entire endeavor congressman that is a fascinating comparison that you
just made because you're talking about potential bias inside the FBI via
messages that were different than a tweet where you put it out there and
people can kind of interpret what you said these were between two lovers at
the FBI very direct and easy to understand by both parties in the world
look at it and you compare that to just taking a look at tweets now Judge
Napolitano said it's a possibility that this just lengthened out the
investigation well possibly and we know that that Muller does not want to hand
his report to a Republican Congress I think that there's an element of the
Moller probe that's waiting on the Trump piece in the hopes that somehow
Democrats will take control and that's why it's so important the Republicans
keep the house so that we don't see the president railroaded with a with a
totally baseless investigation that to produce any evidentiary basis seven
months into the investigation when the lead investigator Peter struck was
texting his girlfriend there's no there there okay so as we move forward with
this investigation and we now have the president's tweets and all of this we
know from the president at least in recent weeks and months of that the
situation has changed he has attorneys now looking at this tweets that's what I
understand to be to be the case if Muller does this what does it mean for
the total investigation do you see this going into 2019 2020 well it just can't
I mean at some point we've got a call Robert Muller before the Judiciary
Committee and say put up or shut up we've got to find out if there's
evidence of collusion or illegal activity we need to know it and proceed
accordingly and if there is no evidence we should not continue to tear the
country apart with an investigation that that seems to lack any factual basis
into the president or members of his team I think we all can unify to go
after Russia's efforts to interfere with our election we can all work on better
resiliency but as it relates to collusion and obstruction of justice
let's see what the evidence is and if there isn't any and I don't think there
is let's move on as a country all right I also want to hit you with one more
we're spending some quality time together today congressman gates because
there's a lot happening Jim Jordans announcement that he may not
may that he intends to run for speaker of house if you retain the hundred
sixteenth opportunity to lead the nation with the majority what do you say about
that if Jim Jordan were Speaker of the House we'd be winning so much we'd be
tired of winning Jim Jordan is a fighter for the middle class he is an excellent
communicator of the conservative principles that can restore this great
country and now that he's running for Speaker I want to do everything I can to
convince my colleagues to join me in voting for him yeah you know I have to
bring up a subject that no doubt will be brought up by his critics and the
opposition it is the look into whether or not he was in charge and it happened
three decades ago in the athletics department in Ohio if he was in charge
while things were happening there in the order of sexual harassment and
other what do you say about that as he goes
forward because this is certainly going to cause the media to be much more
hungry in their search I've learned in my limited time in Washington Harris
that when you are ambitious and when you pursue opportunity all kind of Lies and
rumors come out about you that aren't true I don't think that that Jim Jordan
is the only person that wants to be speaker that has uncorroborated lies to
swirling around them and I know that among those who have interacted with Jim
we see this for what it is and it makes us even more strident to support our
good friend in our leader all right you're behind him thank you very much
congressman thank you for your time today on a sundry of issues we
appreciate it Thank You Harris Secretary of State Mike
Pompeo defending the president's recent summit with Russian President Vladimir
Putin during a fiery hearing meanwhile the White House is postponing a second
meeting with Putin until after the mulher Russia probe is over is that the
right move to make did Pompeo address the lawmakers concerns about Russia will
talk with a senator who was at the hearing stay close
you
