Attkisson Trump Was Right To Fire Comey; Here Are 12 Reasons Why

by Tyler Durden

A lot of new information has come out in the year since President Trump fired FBI Director

James Comey.

No matter whether you admire Trump, Comey, both or neither - its now difficult to

argue that Trump made the wrong move in removing Comey.

Even many of Trumps detractors would agree that no president should keep in place the

head of a crucial division who - along with some of his top staff apparently worked

to undermine or control the president, and exercised poor judgment in important matters.

Here are 12 ways Comey has proven Trump was right to fire him.

1.

Comey testified that it gave him a queasy feeling when then-Attorney General Loretta

Lynch directed him to publicly refer to the Hillary Clintonclassified email investigation

as a matter. Yet, he did so anyway and did not raise objections.

2.

Comeys FBI, including allegedly his general counsel, was responsible for multiple leaks

to the press with the apparent goal of politically helping Clinton or harming Trump.

On the other hand, the FBI kept a closely-held secret any information that was favorable

to Trump such as the fact that Comey repeatedly told Trump he wasnt under investigation.

3.

Top FBI officials working under Comey conspired to develop an insurance plan in the

event Trump were to be elected.

(One possible implication is that they could not afford to have Trump officials poking

around into what they or other U.S. intel agencies had been doing over the years.)

4.

We now know that Comey apparently delayed notifying Congress that the FBI had discovered

Hillary Clinton emails on the personal computer of soon-to-be convicted sexter Anthony Weiner

(then husband of Clintons top aide, Huma Abedin), prior to the election.

5.

Comey demonstrated bias or questionable judgment in selecting the man he trusted as his number

two in February 2016: Andrew McCabe.

Comey allowed McCabe to be involved in the FBI investigations into the Clinton Foundation

and Clinton classified emails even though McCabes wife had received large sums of

donor money from Clinton interests, including those of then-Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe,

who also was under FBI investigation at the time.

(The FBI granted top Clinton staff immunity from prosecution, didnt record her interview,

drafted an exoneration letter in advance, and ultimately excused Clintons mishandling

of classified information as not being willful.)

6.

Comey allowed McCabes involvement in the Clinton-related investigations to continue

until the week before the 2016 election.

Only then did McCabe recuse himself after a Wall Street Journal article about

the donations to McCabes wife.

(McCabe has said he followed proper procedures and did nothing wrong.)

7.

McCabe says he told Comey in October 2016 that he McCabe had authorized a leak

of sensitive information to the Wall Street Journal shortly before the election.

The Department of Justices Inspector General has since found the leak was to advance McCabes

own interests and was in violation of FBI policy.

(Comey says he doesnt recall McCabe telling him this.)

8.

After the election, Comey informed President-elect Trump about the lurid allegations against

him in the so-called Steele dossier, but admitted in an interview this week that

he withheld from Trump the fact that it was opposition research paid for by Hillary Clinton.

9.

While acknowledging the Steele dossier contained salacious and unverified material,

knowing it was produced with help from an ex-foreign spy and understanding that it relied

on primary sources who were said to be close to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Comey

apparently did not open an investigation into this effort to impact the U.S. election and

undermine the American president.

10.

Comeys FBI used the Steele dossier to justify wiretaps before and after the election

on an American citizen who was a Trump associate without disclosing that the evidence

was political opposition research paid for by Trumps opponent.

This appears to be a violation of the FBIs Woods Procedures, and possibly other

policies.

11.

Comey testified that after he was fired from the FBI, he secretly engineered a leak of

FBI material to the New York Times for the political goal of prompting appointment of

a special counsel to investigate Trump.

12.

Comey has publicly disclosed content of private, personal conversations with President Trump,

such as discussions about Trumps wifes feelings.

Trump may not have had the benefit of all of this information at the time he removed

Comey, but in terms of whether Comey was the right person to serve as head of the FBI under

the new administration, Trumps instincts proved

to be correct.

Trump-Abe discuss North Korea, trade and other issues - Duration: 1:50.

And now more on President Trump's meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister.

The fear in Tokyo has been that Japan is being sidelined on North Korea issues, a major reason

Abe went all the way to Florida for the second time.

Between that and issues of trade, the two leaders have a lot to discuss.

Kim Hyo-sun tells us more.

North Korea is definitely a major agenda for President Trump and Prime Minister Shinzo

Abe.

President Trump said Seoul and Pyongyang are discussing to formally end the decades-long

Korean War,... adding that such conversations have his blessing.

As Trump prepares for his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un,... he also told

Abe that North Korea is coming along,... and that the meeting will take place probably

in early June or a little before that.

"We will probably be, depending on various meetings, and conversations we will be having,

meetings with Kim Jong-un -- very soon, that will be taking place in early June -- or probably

before that -- assuming things go well -- it's possible things won't go well and I won't

have the meetings and we will just go along this very strong path that we have taken.

But, we will see what happens."

President Trump also explained that five locations are under consideration for the scheduled

Washington-Pyongyang summit.

Trade is also a massive topic between the two leaders,... with Tokyo being one of the

few American allies that has not been exempted from President Trump's new steel and aluminum

tariffs.

The White House added earlier that Trump and Abe will explore ways to expand fair and reciprocal

trade and investment ties between the two allies,... which are also two of the world's

wealthiest and most innovative economies.

Trump-Abe discuss North Korea, trade and other issues - Duration: 2:12.

Our top story this morning....

The leaders of the United States and Japan are meeting at President Trump's Mar-a-Lago

resort in Florida to discuss a range of issues,... but mostly trade and North Korea.

The summit comes amid fears in Tokyo that Japan could be sidelined from the latest nuclear

negotiations.

For the latest on the summit,... we connect with our Kim Hyo-sun.

Hyo-sun, what have the two leaders discussed so far regarding North Korea?

Hi Semin.

While he explained that five locations are under consideration for the scheduled Washington-Pyongyang

summit,... Trump added there's a possibility the meeting will not take place at all,...

stressing it all depends on the ongoing discussions.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Abe praised President Trump's courage in his decision to meet with

the North Korean leader.

He also underscored the importance of achieving North Korea's complete, verifiable and irreversible

denuclearization as well as the abandonment of its missile programs.

And Hyo-sun, aside from North Korea,... what other issues are on the table?

You mentioned trade, but they are also discussing their alliance...

That's right.

The White House says Trump and Abe are reaffirming the U.S.-Japan alliance as a cornerstone of

peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.

Back to you, Semin.

Trump, Abe to hold two-day summit starting Tuesday at Trump's Mar-a-Lago Resort - Duration: 2:18.

U.S. President Donald Trump is set to play host to his Japanese countepart over in Florida.

For Shinzo Abe, who faces a laundry list of damaging issues at home,... the two day meeting

is looked to as a chance to score points by getting some solid assurances from the American

leader on trade matters and North Korea.

Lee Ji-won explains further.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will be visiting the U.S. for four days starting Tuesday,

where he will hold a two-day summit with President Trump on North Korea, bilateral trade and

more.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters on Monday that the

summit will be centered primarily on preparation for talks with North Korea as well as economic

issues.

Like Japanese foreign minister Taro Kono in his talks with his South Korean and Chinese

counterparts recently, Abe is expected to press President Trump to bring up the topic

of Japanese abductees in North Korea when he meets with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

And while Sanders did not specify if "trade" includes talks on rejoining the Trans-Pacific

Partnership, a free trade agreement between eleven Pacific-rim countries,... there's speculation

Abe will try to persuade Trump to follow through on his recent comments about rejoining,...

if the conditions are right for the U.S. Abe is also expected to urge Trump to exempt

Japan from Washington's plan to impose hefty tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum.

The meeting provides Abe an important opportunity as he's in dire need of a policy win as he

faces challenges abroad and protests at home.

Having maintained a hardline stance on Pyongyang, Japan was caught on the back foot with the

upcoming North Korean summits and the rapid diplomatic developments on the Korean peninsula.

Japan has since been making efforts not to be left out of the negotiations.

Abe is also reeling from a cronyism scandal that has caused his approval rating to plunge

to historic lows.

Abe be will be staying at President Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort for the second time, holding

summit talks on Tuesday and Wednesday and playing at least one round of golf with the

U.S. leader.

Late-Night Hosts React to News Sean Hannity Was Client of Trump's Lawyer | THR News - Duration: 2:53.

"This is crazy!"

"Thank you."

After news broke on Monday that Fox News host Sean Hannity

is also a client of President Donald Trump's personal

lawyer Michael Cohen, the late night hosts were ready to pounce.

Hannity, who said on his radio show Monday that he's occasionally had

"brief discussions" with Cohen about legal issues that he wanted

"his input and perspective on," was revealed as Cohen's mysterious third

client after a federal raid of the lawyer's office last week made headlines.

On ABC's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' the host, who recently had a public feud

with Hannity, was quick to  jumped on the link

between Cohen and the Fox News host.

Addressing Hannity's tweet about Cohen in which he claimed to have never

retained the attorney, received an invoice or paid legal fees,

Kimmel noted: "It's interesting, he has a lawyer he doesn't pay."

"By the way, I'm thinking of hiring Michael Cohen as my lawyer

cause he only has three clients, apparently he works for free.

He doesn't take money from any of them."

Kimmel also referred to Hannity as the

"chief propaganda guy for Trump's legal team," and quipped...

"If this is the biggest witch hunt in history as they say it is,

we're running out of spots on the broomstick. It's getting very full."

Over on CBS's 'The Late Show,' Stephen Colbert marveled that

attorney Michael Cohen, a.k.a. the "sad neck with hair" was in court with his lawyer.

"Pro-tip for the president, when your lawyer needs a lawyer, you need a lawyer."

The host then graciously threw to a CNN clip

to allow the network to reveal the Hannity news.

"CNN, you've earned this."

"Michael Cohen has just disclosed, in court, that the client

who had requested to remain unnamed was Sean Hannity."

Cut back to Colbert, who was then drinking red wine in a leather chair, and...

can you do that on network TV? The host later raised a valid point when he said

"Cohen only has two other clients and all he does for them is pay off mistresses."

"Which raises the obvious question: who did Sean Hannity have sex with?"

Over on Comedy Central's 'Daily Show,' Trevor Noah said that it

wasn't a "good look" for Hannity to be one of Cohen's clients.

"You know Sean Hannity is probably on the phone with his wife like,

'Hey honey, it's so weird how I used the guy who pays off

mistresses to get me out of that parking ticket.'"

Noah also criticized Hannity for not disclosing that he was

Cohen's client, despite reporting on the attorney many times on his show.

"I mean, even Instagram models have higher ethical standards

because they'll be like, 'Drink Tummy Tea. By the way, I'm sponsored by Tummy Tea.'"

As he showed clips from Hannity's show last week,

in which the host addressed the raid of Cohen's office, Noah noted...

"You know, now that we know that he was working with Cohen,

that looks less like a news show and more like a guy really

stressed giving himself a pep talk. He's just like, 'Come on!'"

Also on Comedy Central, 'The Opposition' host Jordan Klepper had a different take.

"Just because Sean works with the fixer,

doesn't mean he's done anything that needs fixing."

"I should know because I'm Michael Cohen's secret fourth client."

YUGE! Trump Just Did What No President Has Been Able To Do in 65 Years! The W*R IS OVER! - Duration: 6:08.

YUGE! Trump Just Did What No President Has Been Able To Do in 65 Years!

The WAR IS OVER!

It's Official!

President Trump was happy to watch something occur that hasn't happened in the last 65

years!

Under Trump's presidency, we were able to watch a 65-year-long war finally come to an

end where North and South Korea finally call it quits and agree to be peaceful with each

other.

This was something that people from all across the world have wanted for years but was not

ever able to get.

Finally, it happened!

This is not long after Trump had agreed to meet with North Korea's leader, Kim Jong-un.

Some think the peace resolutions have finally come to fruition after Trump made a stand

(on Twitter) against North Korea but then agreed to meet with him.

Trump agreeing to meet Jong-un may have been the breaking point for Jong-un to see things

in a lighter way that shows how all countries can be allies and get along.

Now we're talking about peace, denuclearization, and achieving a level of greatness that hasn't

been present in over 60 years.

There are talks that North and South Korea could even return the Demilitarized Zone back

to the way it used to be.

Many people wonder if this could be the end of people defecting from North Korea and the

residents will have their quality of life increased.

They've reportedly had a tough time over there, so the peace talks could hopefully

improve life for everyone living in North Korea.

South Korea will enjoy living in peace and the topic of North Korea testing nuclear weapons

and missiles could finally settle down.

Of course, this comes at a time when there's a massive issue with Syria, so when one peaceful

situation comes to fruition, then another violent one takes its place.

Latest: Barbara Bush, Republican Matriarch and Former First Lady, Dies at 92

American Military News reported more about the peace talks: "The leaders of North and

South Korea – Kim Jong Un and President Moon Jae-in, respectively – are slated to

meet next week, in advance of the tri-nation summit with President Donald Trump sometime

before May.

It was reported that the two nations are going to officially put an end to the Korean military

conflict, which technically lasted from 1950 to 1953 but was ended with a truce, not a

peace treaty, according to the South Korean newspaper Munhwa Ilbo, which cited an unnamed

South Korean official.

The two nations could also discuss the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that separates them, and possibly

return it to its original state, the newspaper reported.

It was recently announced that North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un agreed to meet at a summit

with President Trump, and that North Korea is also willing to talk denuclearization of

the Korean Peninsula.

While the date and location of the three-way summit have not been announced, the North-South

Korean meeting is set for April 27.

Chinese state media also recently confirmed that Kim traveled and met with Chinese President

Xi Jinping in Beijing, in an unprecedented first visit outside his home country since

becoming supreme leader in 2011.

The North Korea-China meeting came ahead of the meeting with South Korea, which is said

to prepare for the three-nation meeting with the United States, North and South Korea sometime

before May.

Trump had accepted an invitation from Kim on behalf of South Korean delegates to the

U.S. in March.

The White House later confirmed that President Trump and Kim would meet "sometime" before

May, on the invitation of Kim himself.

The state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) issued commentary about two weeks after the

invitation and finally hinted at a confirmation for the upcoming meeting of North Korea, the

U.S. and South Korea.

A possible meeting between the nations was originally the product of South Korea's

efforts in February during the Winter Olympics.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in first invited North Korea to a summit in April in the DMZ.

Kim then invited President Trump, through a South Korean envoy, to a future meeting.

While many U.S. officials are skeptical about North Korea following through with any formal

meeting, supporters of diplomacy say that even the prospect of talks is an encouraging

change.

For the better part of last year, North Korea continued to defy international officials'

pleas to cease countless nuclear missile and bomb tests, even going so far as to threaten

the U.S. territory of Guam after fierce words from Trump demanding a halt to their increased

military activity and bomb testing.

South Korea has stated that denuclearization could be a topic of discussion during the

formal meeting of the nations.

But while North Korea seems to have at least paused its nuclear activity for the time being,

the rogue nation has not confirmed any sort of agenda for the meeting at this point, and

giving up their prized nuclear weapons indefinitely be an unexpected result."

Let's hope the peace talks between North and South Korea go well and become contagious

with every country.

Each country working together to bring each other to the highest level of success is exactly

what everyone needs.

War is no good unless your country is standing up for itself and others.

War in the sense of self-defense is justified, but waging war on each other for no good reason

doesn't ever solve problems.

Melania and Donald Trump Plays Host- Dinner With Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe At Mar-a-Lago - Duration: 2:46.

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump put on brave faces and even showed slight

affection while hosting their Japanese counterparts, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and his wife, Akie

Abe, for dinner at Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach on Tuesday.

The two couples appeared relaxed as they took a casual stroll across the lawn of President

Trump's Florida resort.

The American first lady looked elegant as usual, sporting a $3,000 Carolina Herrera

dress and high heels.

Melania appeared unfazed by the headlines that have been swirling around her husband's

alleged infidelity.

The Trumps were seen holding hands as they led their friends from Japan across the lawn.

The dinner date was happening as the news media reported that the president's personal

attorney, Michael Cohen, has been the subject of a federal investigation.

Authorities are taking particular interest in payments he made supposedly on Trump's

behalf to two women with whom his boss had a sexual relationship.

When seated at dinner, Melania Trump was seated next to the Japanese premier, while her husband,

the president, sat next to Mrs. Abe.

The president met the Japanese leader away from frigid Washington, DC – where temperatures

struggled to climb out of the 40s on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, at Palm Beach, the high temperature for the day reached 80 degrees.

By evening, it had cooled off to a pleasant 69 degrees Fahrenheit.

Pleasantries aside, President Trump and Prime Minister Abe had some serious business to

discuss during their planned two-day summit.

Trump said on Tuesday that the United States has engaged in 'extremely high level' talks

with North Korea and hinted they go all the way up to reclusive dictator Kim Jong-un.

Asked by reporters this evening who the senior officials are and if he'd spoken directly

to 'him,' Trump said, 'yes.'

He rolled back the apparent confirmation that he'd talked to Kim a few minutes later in

another encounter with press, creating confusion about what he'd meant.

'Well let's leave it a little bit short of that,' Trump said of direct talks with Kim

the second time around.

'But we have talks at the highest level, and it's going very well, but we'll see what happens.'

Trump was most likely referring to Mike Pompeo, the outgoing head of the Central Intelligence

Agency who was nominated by the president to succeeded Rex Tillerson as secretary of

state.

The Washington Post reported on Tuesday that Pompeo met secretly with Kim over the Easter

holiday.
