Cynthia Nixon calls for Americans to 'take to the streets' if Trump fires Mueller

Actress Cynthia Nixon says if President Trump fires special counsel Robert Mueller, the

commander in chiefs opponents must take to the streets.

We must make the firing of Robert Mueller a stark line in the sand, the former Sex

and the City star said at a Monday event dubbed the Peoples State of the Union,

and if Trump crosses it we must take to the streets as never before!

Nixon was among the celebrity speakers at the anti-Trump event, scheduled the night

before his first State of the Union address to Congress.

The New York Times reported last week that in June Trump wanted to fire Mueller who's

leading the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election but ultimately backed

off when White House counsel Don McGahn threatened to quit.

[Russian President] Vladimir Putin, and [President] Donald Trump and his enablers

in the GOP Congress may think they have us on the ropes, Nixon, 51, told the crowd

in New York.

They may think that our belief in true participatory democracy is waning, that we

are complacent, that we are distracted, that we are just too beaten down from this horror

show year weve had and the sickening prospect of three more like it, the actress continued.

But we are here to prove them wrong!

There is no cavalry coming.

We are the cavalry! Nixon added to cheers.

If we want our democracy back, we have to get out there ourselves and seize it.

The Peoples State of the Union, hosted by We Stand United, MoveOn.org Political Action

and Stand Up America, featured a bevy of Trump critics, including Spotlight star Mark

Ruffalo, actor John Leguizamo, director Michael Moore and actress Rosie Perez.

REPORT President Trump Planning To Sign Order To Keep Gitmo Open- BreakingNews24 - Duration: 28:42.

REPORT President Trump Planning To Sign Order To Keep Gitmo Open

Remember when Obama claimed one of his first acts as president would be to shut down the

prison at Guantanamo Bay?

Yeah, that didn't happen.

And now Trump is planning to sign a new order to make sure it stays open.

Politico reports:

Trump plans to sign order keeping Gitmo open, leaked doc reveals

President Donald Trump is preparing to sign an executive order that would reverse an Obama-era

directive to close the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to a draft

document obtained by POLITICO.

Trump is expected to announce plans to sign the order during his State of the Union speech

on Tuesday, or in the days before or after the address, a person familiar with the issue

said.

The executive order, according to a draft State Department cable that officials are

planning to soon send to U.S. embassies around the world, would rescind part of a separate

2009 order signed by then-President Barack Obama mandating that the facility be "closed

as soon as practicable."…

Trump promised during the presidential campaign to keep the Guantanamo Bay detention center

open, saying in February 2016 he wanted to "load it up with bad dudes."

Last year, he said he was considering sending a man who rammed a truck into people in New

York City to the facility.

It is also a rebuke to Trump's predecessor, Obama, who worked for years to close the detention

center, which he warned was a recruitment tool for terrorist groups.

In a sign of his commitment to the issue, Obama signed his executive order on his second

full day as president.

Trump has yet to send any captured terrorist to the controversial detention camp, and the

cable suggests that is not about to change.

"At this time, we are not aware of any plans to bring additional detainees to Guantanamo

Bay," the cable says.

The draft cable instructs U.S. diplomats to begin informing officials from other countries

about the executive order after the State of the Union speech, though embassies in London,

Paris, Berlin and a few other cities can begin filling in foreign governments on Monday "with

the request that they should not discuss the matter publicly until after the address."

The cable includes talking points designed to assuage the concerns of allies likely to

criticize Trump's decision.

The facility is reviled in Europe and beyond as a symbol of U.S. excess in the fight against

terrorists and the use of "enhanced interrogation" techniques that critics equate with torture.

There are evil people in the world who are at war with the United States.

We have to have a place to put them.

Democrats Protest Trump's SOTU, Newt Gingrich Goes On Live TV & Rubs Salt In Their Wounds - Duration: 3:59.

Democrats Protest Trump's SOTU, Newt Gingrich Goes On Live TV & Rubs Salt In Their Wounds

The Democrats have been hard at work protesting President Donald Trump's State of the Union

address this week, even though he has yet to deliver his remarks.

It would seem odd to be so against a speech which you haven't heard, but no one ever

accused a liberal of having much common sense.

As those on the left continued to whine about the president's upcoming address, former

House Speaker Newt Gingrich went on live television just to rub salt in their wounds.

While some Democrats in Congress have done their best to turn this year's SOTU into

a political charade by planning to fill the balcony with so-called "Dreamers," other

representatives have refused to attend the annual speech altogether.

Democratic Rep. Frederica Wilson, for example, said on Monday that she would not be "honoring"

President Trump with her presence.

I'm sure he doesn't mind, as there isn't much honor in her presence, to begin with.

Democratic Rep. Frederica Wilson won't be attending President Trump's first State

of the Union address Tuesday because she doesn't think he deserves to be honored.

"To go would be to honor the president and I don't think he deserves to be honored

at this time, after being so hateful towards black people and then black countries,"

she told CNN on Monday.

[Source: Washington Examiner] Indeed, everyone seems to be finding their

own "creative" way to stick it to the president, nevermind the fact that he couldn't

care less about their petty political stunts, as he's got more important things to worry

about, like terrorism and North Korea and free trade.

In the midst of all this political fodder, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich doubled

down on his faith in President Donald Trump and mocked Hillary Clinton for appearing in

a comedy sketch at the Grammy Awards on Sunday.

"[Trump's] not going to give up putting America first," Gingrich said Monday on

Fox & Friends.

"He's not going to give up fighting for small business, fighting for deregulation,

fighting for lower taxes.

But I think he has learned over the last year," he continued.

"He's had a year now to be president," added Gingrich.

"He's clearly learned a lot of lessons.

There's no reason for him to know coming into office, the differences between a billionaire

in business and being the President of the United States.

I always said he is a very smart guy.

He didn't get to be that wealthy by being stupid.

He didn't beat 16 Republicans in the primaries by being stupid."

Then, just to twist the knife, Gingrich took a brilliant shot at Hillary Clinton and all

of her cronies.

"Just think about this weekend, Hillary Clinton on TV sadly reading out of a weird

book, while Donald Trump is preparing a state of the union," he said.

"That's not a world anybody on the left thought was possible.

And so, I think he can afford to be generous and say, let's find a way to work together."Newt

Gingrich was referring, of course, to the cameo appearance Hillary Clinton made at the

Grammys over the weekend.

Hillary Clinton made a cameo appearance at the Grammy Awards in a Trump-trashing skit.

Far left artists took turns trolling President Trump while reading highlights from Michael

Wolff's discredited "Fire and Fury" novel on the Trump White House.

[Source: The Gateway Pundit]How pathetic.

I wonder what Hillary Clinton will be doing as President Donald Trump addresses the nation

which he has greatly improved over the past year.

Getting drunk?

Crying on Huma Abedin's shoulder?

Perhaps both.

Any way you slice it, the situation is pretty darn tragic for her, but she deserves every

bit of it.

Cameras Caught A Striking Photo Of Melania Trump That Is VIRAL For Shocking Reason

The United States is a country that is once again plagued with racism.

The threat had started to dissipate, and just when the crowning achievement for minorities

was attained, a minority in the White House, the fires of hatred were stoked again, but

this time against the majority population.

The definition of racism is constantly debated, primarily because it's not at all debatable

that racism is a bad thing.

Hatred of any kind is a cancer that spreads through a society and is not only bad for

the political landscape but can actually cause physical suffering and even death.

Probably the most prolific example of racism at it's finest was the horrific death toll

at the hands of the Nazis.

Their political agenda of world domination was fueled by a hatred for one particular

race, and no punishment was harsh enough, they had to be snuffed out.

Abuse and death are always the end result of unchecked hatred and racism.

That's one historical example that America must try to avoid repeating.

While the President was overseas, working on international policy, First Lady Melania

Trump went to the Holocaust Memorial Museum, in an effort to remember that horrible sacrifice

that was made by millions of innocents who were born into the wrong race.

USA Today reports that her trip was in remembrance of International Holocaust Remembrance Day,

which was on Saturday:

First lady Melania Trump, whose plan to accompany President Trump to Davos was canceled at the

last minute, instead went to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington on Thursday

— alone and unaccompanied by the media.

The visit, announced by the White House after it was over, was arranged to honor International

Holocaust Remembrance Day on Saturday.

In a statement released by the East Wing, Trump said she wanted to pay respect to the

6 million Jews lost in the Holocaust and to the millions of other victims of Nazi persecution."My

thoughts and prayers are with the people whose lives and families were broken by the horrors

of the Holocaust," her statement said.

"Yet it is also through our shared humanity that we come together now in commemoration,

strength, and love.

My heart is with you, and we remember."

With no press photographers present, only White House photos were available, some of

which Trump tweeted out.

"Thank you @HolocaustMuseum for a powerful & moving tour that honors the millions of

innocent lives lost, and educates us on the tragedies and effects of the holocaust,"

her tweet said.Soon after, Trump departed Washington and arrived at Palm Beach International

Airport near the Trump resort at Mar-a-Lago, according to The Palm Beach Post, which reported

that the plane (smaller than Air Force One but with similar markings) dropped off the

first lady for an unscheduled visit.

'According to the Federal Aviation Administration, that plane is referred to Executive One Foxtrot

when a member of the president's family is aboard,' the paper reported.

It is not unusual for this first lady to make unannounced and under-the-radar public appearances

sans a press pool tagging along.

Stephanie Grisham, the first lady's spokeswoman, said Trump's reasons for canceling her travel

plans to Davos were practical.

'It was determined there were too many scheduling and logistical issues, so Mrs. Trump will

not travel to Davos,' Grisham said in an email to USA TODAY.

Grisham did not respond to emails about why Trump went to Florida later Thursday.

Based on her solo activities during previous foreign trips accompanying the president,

Mrs.Trump prefers to visit schools and hospitals where she gets to meet children.

Davos is a small Swiss Alpine town that annually hosts the World Economic Forum, where there

is little to do except gab with world leaders, businessmen and billionaires, or go skiing.

So instead of jetting off to Switzerland on Air Force One Wednesday night, she was driven

from the White House to just off the National Mall to the Holocaust memorial, where she

was met by museum director Sara Bloomfield.

Trump, 47, who was born in Slovenia in eastern Europe, took a tour of the 24-year-old museum

that charts the rise of the Nazi Party in Germany from 1933, the evolution of its policies

toward the Jewish people, and the liberation of Nazi concentration camps in 1945 by the

Allied forces, according to the White House statement.

The tour concluded at the Hall of Remembrance where Trump participated in a moment of silence

by the Eternal Flame Memorial, followed by a lighting of a candle at the Prayer Wall."

There are any number of problems that we can point to in American culture today.

But as we go about solving them, we must remember that the end goal is always supposed to be

quality of life.

If we had perfect international relationships, but it cost us so much money people were taxed

into the poor house, that's not a good quality of life.

If we have the rise of a certain race, but the ultimate result is hatred and death, the

ultimate purpose wasn't served.

BREAKING NOW Trump Just Made MASSIVE Change – 22% Of The US Will NEVER Be The Same!- BreakingNews24 - Duration: 28:42.

BREAKING NOW Trump Just Made MASSIVE Change – 22% Of The US Will NEVER Be The Same!

It's finally happening folks.

The days when 22% of our fellow Americans parking their rear ends on their couches while

the working schmucks go to work in order to give them welfare and food stamps might finally

be coming to an end.

In an attempt to wean people off of taxpayer help, on Wednesday the Trump administration

unveiled it's 2018 Farm Bill.

And amongst its many tweaks, it creates a work requirement for those who receive government

assistance in the form of food stamps.

The document calls for work as the "pathway to self-sufficiency, well-being and economic

mobility for individuals and families" for individuals and families who are on the Supplemental

Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as food stamps.

Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue told reporters at a farm near Mifflintown, Pennsylvania this

is a necessity in order to discourage the welfare lifestyle.

The lifestyle where people turn government assistance into a career choice.

Perdue went on to explain:

"It's evident that there are able-bodied adults without dependents who are on the food

stamp program, who we believe it is in their best interests, and their families' best

interests, to move into an independent lifestyle," Perdue said, according to Bloomberg News.

"During the last downturn, it became a lifestyle for some people.

We don't want it to become permanent," he added.

He also stated that because of this law able-bodied adults will no longer be able to just coast

by and receive food stamps without doing at least a 20 hour work week.

It can be in the form of charity work, part-time job, study or even community service.

But the days of just sitting on the couch waiting for that check to arrive are over.

Agricultural Secretary and Former Governor of Georgia Sonny Perdue

Freedom Works Reports:

TOP 10 REASONS FOOD STAMPS NEED TO BE REFORMED

Roughly 80 percent of the nearly $1 trillion dollar Farm Bill currently under debate in

Congress deals with food and nutrition assistance programs such as food stamps, the largest

of which is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

In recent years, food stamps have grown into a major financial obligation.

Enrollment in SNAP has increased dramatically, rising from 26 million in 2007 (one in twelve

Americans) to nearly 47 million 2012 (one in seven Americans).

Costs have increased dramatically as well, rising from $35 billion in 2007 to $80 billion

in 2012, making it the second most expensive means-tested federal welfare program, behind

only Medicaid.

As such, it is vital to understand the serious flaws in current food stamp programs.

1.

They Are Ineffective at Reducing Hunger

A report compiled by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) noted that while SNAP (the largest

food stamp program) has had some positive results, "the literature is inconclusive

regarding whether SNAP alleviates hunger and malnutrition in low-income households."

It went on to say that, "those who choose to participate in food assistance programs

generally have greater difficulty meeting their food needs and tend to be more food

insecure compared to others that are eligible for programs but do not participate."

In other words, these programs, despite costing tens of billions per year, are not making

a sizable impact on hunger in America.

2.

They are Subject to Large Scale Fraud & Error

The Government Accountability Office reports that despite great progress, "the amount

of SNAP benefits paid in error is substantial, totaling about $2.2 billion in 2009."

Other food programs are worse.

The Daily Caller reports the story of Adam Sylvain, a student at George Mason University,

who recounts, "My roommate told me he applied for food stamps, and they told him he qualified

for $200 a month in benefits…

He's here on scholarship and he saves over $5,000 each summer in cash.

A few of our other friends who were in the room also said if there were able to, they

would get food stamps … They think that if they're eligible it's the government's

fault, so they might as well."

Stories like this are not uncommon.

Nor is the misuse of food stamp money by retailers or consumers.

In fact, there are only 40 investigators for over 193,000 retailers nationwide, making

abuse hard to catch.

3.

They Lack Transparency

The USDA does not disclose product purchases or how many total SNAP dollars are spent on

each product, nor does the USDA disclose how much money retailers make off of SNAP.

This makes it hard for investigative journalists and watchdogs to identify fraud in the system.

The Association of Health Care Journalists and six other journalist and open-government

groups have requested this information but the USDA refuses to reveal anything.

Why is USDA stonewalling journalists?

What do they have to hide?

4.

They are a Form of Corporate Welfare

According to public health lawyer Michele Simon of eatdrinkpolitics, "SNAP represents

the largest, most overlooked corporate subsidy in the farm bill."

Food stamp programs guarantee large corporations consistent cash flow, creating a powerful

corporate lobbying group that seeks to prevent cuts or changes to SNAP.

For example, J.P. Morgan has contracts for Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards used

for SNAP in half the states and has spent millions of dollars lobbying Congress.

In addition, large food retailers like Kroger and Walmart gain large shares of SNAP purchases.

In some states, Walmart captures upwards to 50 percent of all SNAP purchases.

These companies now have a vested interest in opposing any attempts to decrease food

stamp enrollment.

5.

Food Stamp Advertising Emphasizes Enrollment over Need

The USDA has conducted a massive campaign to increase the number of food stamp recipients,

even hiring recruiters who must fulfill enrollment quotas.

The USDA in its "Community Partner Outreach Toolkit" webpage gives ideas of how to spread

awareness and increase enrollment.

Ideas have been implemented such as SNAP-based bingo games for the elderly, food-stamp parties,

and fliers that that read, "Be a patriot.

Bring your food stamp money home."

But it doesn't stop here; the U.S. and Mexico began a partnership in 2004 to "provide

information on eligibility criteria for Food and Nutrition Service programs," and that

includes disseminating a Spanish language flyer that tells undocumented immigrants,

"You need not divulge information regarding your immigration status in seeking this benefit

[food stamps] for your children."

The U.S. also supplies 1/3 of the Puerto Rican population with food stamps, costing U.S.

taxpayers roughly $2 billion annually.

Clearly, food stamp programs have become more and more about numbers, instead of need.

6.

They Overlap and Create Inefficiencies

A report compiled by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) stated that, "the 18 food assistance

programs show signs of program overlap, which can create unnecessary work and lead to inefficient

use of resources."

Indeed, administrative costs equal about $5.5 billion per year, or about 10 percent of the

value of food stamps distributed.

7.

They Lack Effective Work Requirements

On top of loosening eligibility requirements in both the 2002 and 2008 Farm Bills, and

easing restrictions on states to qualify participants in the 90s, the 2009 Stimulus plan suspended

the SNAP's work requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents (ABAWDs), a 'temporary'

suspension that has continually been renewed.

This creates an incentive for individuals to not work, because such action would likely

jeopardize their eligibility for food stamps.

According to the Congressional Research Service, participation in SNAP has doubled among these

ABAWDs- from 1.9 million to 3.9 million – far outpacing general enrollment increases.

This change allows individuals to stay on food stamps with less incentive to improve

their economic situation, draining taxpayers and discouraging self-reliance.

8.

They Create Dependency

The goal of any government welfare program should be to get people back on their feet,

not to keep them in poverty and hunger.

Current food stamp programs have little work required as a condition of assistance, encouraging

the relatively well off to freeload off the system and those in need to remain in poverty.

Food Stamp Dependence

9.

They Have Become a Burden on Taxpayers

While a large share of the rise in food stamp enrollment is due to our economic downturn,

over-active advertising and loosening of eligibility requirements have permanently (unless reformed)

enlarged food stamp programs.

The CBO projects that by 2022, 34 million people will be enrolled in SNAP and expenditures

will total $73 billion, much higher than $19.8 billion spent in 2000.

10.

They Should Be Handled by States

Currently, SNAP's funding comes completely from the federal government, encouraging states

to enroll as many people as possible.

In fact, in the states' view, there is little or no problem if food stamps are being abused;

it is not "their" problem.

This only leads to increasing costs.

States can also use what's called "categorical eligibility" for SNAP in which they determine

eligibility not on the program's income or asset limitations but on individual's

participation in other welfare assistance programs.

This usually leads to relaxed standards.

Sending the money directly to states as block-grants would give states more flexibility and encourage

them to minimize cost and maximize effectiveness, as proven by the successful welfare reforms

of the 1990s.

We all know people sometimes are down on their luck and they need a helping hand, there is

nothing wrong with that.

But we also know people who make it a career choice to receive taxpayer-funded help.

They just sit on the couch and watch tv while the rest of us go to work.

They have multiple children even though they can't possibly afford them and we the already

overburdened taxpayers, who have been responsible in our choices, are financially on the hook

for those children.

Enough is Enough,

Please share if you agree with the 2018 Farm Bill…
